Timothy A. Szczesny, born and raised in Binghamton, New York. Tim has dedicated his life to serving his community and fostering connections.
Tim began his education journey from his early years at Binghamton High School to his graduation from Binghamton University in 2015 and his commitment to excellence at the American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science. After finishing up his schooling, Tim went on to work for his parents at DeMunn Funeral Home. When his parents were ready to retire, Tim knew his career path and that was to continue their legacy at the funeral home while helping the community. Tim Took over ownership in 2024 and renamed the business DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LLC.
While helping families at the funeral home, Tim also has an active participation role on local boards and committees, including the City of Binghamton Planning Board and the Binghamton Baseball Booster Club and, and Theta Omega chapter advisor to the Pi Kapp Phi Fraternity at Binghamton University.
With immense joy in attending baseball games, Tim can be seen around the country traveling to the next game. He also has a deep appreciation for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.


Donna Szczesny was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and later moved to Long Island, where she graduated from Wantagh High School and attended Stony Brook University. While living on Long Island, she met her future husband, Timothy F. Szczesny. Together, they sought a meaningful business venture and eventually became the proud owners of Frank L. DeMunn Funeral Home in Binghamton, New York.
Dedicated to serving families with compassion and professionalism, Donna pursued her calling by attending Simmons Mortuary College. She has since been a licensed funeral director for over 20 years, working alongside her husband and playing a vital role in the daily operations of the funeral home.
In addition to her work in funeral service, Donna is a passionate supporter of the arts, particularly music. She serves as the President of the Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra, is a board member of the Harmony Club, and performs with several local ensembles, including the Vestal Community Band, Southern Tier Concert Band, and Ithaca Concert Band.
Donna’s dedication to both her profession and her community reflect her deep commitment to service, leadership, and cultural enrichment.
After 33 years of ownership, Donna proudly transitioned the business to hher son, ensuring the family’s commitment to excellence and service continues into the next generation.


Timothy F. Szczesny was born and raised in Batavia, New York, where his early interest in the funeral industry began while serving as an altar boy at his local Catholic church. He further deepened his involvement by working at St. Joseph’s Cemetery during high school. A graduate of Alexander High School, Tim went on to earn his business degree from SUNY Oswego and later pursued mortuary science at SUNY Farmingdale after relocating to Long Island.
It was on Long Island that Tim met Donna, who would become his partner in both life and business. Sharing a mutual vision of service and entrepreneurship, the couple purchased Frank L. DeMunn Funeral Home in Binghamton, New York, and were married in 1991. Fun fact: Tim passed the National Funeral Directors Exam exactly 10 years before the birth of their son, Tim.
Over the next three decades, Tim dedicated himself to building a legacy of compassionate care and community service. His passion for home renovation and landscaping helped transform DeMunn Funeral Home into a welcoming landmark on Binghamton’s Southside. Tim has also been actively involved in several organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, the Freemasons, and the Kalurah Shriners.
After 33 years of ownership, Tim proudly transitioned the business to his son, ensuring the family’s commitment to excellence and service continues into the next generation.
